Magnitude 5 quake hits Negros Occidental

MANILA, Philippines—A shallow 5.0-magnitude quake jolted Negros Occidental Sunday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said the quake struck at a depth of 20 kilometers at 9:08 pm, with its epicenter located 51 kilometers southwest of Sipalay.

Intensity III was recorded in Sipalay while Intensity II was felt in Iloilo City.

Phivolcs said aftershocks were expected.
