MANILA, Philippines — Devotees of the Black Nazarene broke through the barricades at the Quirino Grandstand Wednesday.

Authorities were unable to stop the pilgrims from entering the secured area, as Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle led the 6 a.m. mass for the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

Police estimate that over 160,000 barefoot devotees were present at the Rizal Park to participate in the procession.
