Man stabbed dead in burger joint robbery
An attendant of a fastfood kiosk fatally stabbed a man who allegedly tried to rob the establishment in barangay Poblacion, Talisay City, southern Cebu at dawn yesterday.
Ambrosio Candole, 27, a service crew of Angel’s Burger, said he now fears for his safety because of the incident.
“Someone might get back at me,” Candole said in Cebuano.
The fatality was identified as Junrey Escari, 20, a resident of barangay Cansojong, Talisay City.
Candole told police that two men arrived at the store and posed as customers.
Later, one of the men who was later identified as Escari, drew a .38 revolver and declared a hold-up.
Article continues after this advertisementAfter handing over P50 cash to the robber, Candole said the robber twice pulled the trigger but the gun misfired.

During the scuffle, Candole grabbed a 12-inch knife used to slice bread and stabbed Escari in the chest.
A wounded Escari ran. His companion also fled on a motorcycle.
Escari was later found slumped in a road in barangay Dumlog. Village watchmen brought him to the Talisay City District Hospital but the attending doctor declared him dead.
Candole went to the Talisay City Police Station to seek help. He turned over to the police a .38 caliber revolver allegedly owned by Escari.
PO3 Benedicto Lasque said recovered from Escari’s possession were two bonnets; four cellphones; a wallet and some cash.
Escari was identified by his father. The elder Escari refused to talk to reporters.
Candole is asking assistance from him employer in case charges are filed against him.
Lasque said they are still waiting for Escari’s relatives if they would file charges against the burger station attendant.
If no charges are filed, Candole will be released since it was clear that he acted in self-defense when he stabbed Escari, Lasque said.
