/ 06:49 AM July 30, 2011

A SISTER of slain businessman Antonio Ouano went to the Mandaue City police yesterday to ask for updates on the investigation into the July 22 murder.

Vilma Ouano, who was accompanied by lawyer Rex Fernandez, pledged to cooperate with the police inquiry, she said in a letter.

Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, Mandaue City police chief, would not give details about what they talked about.

Gillamac said Antonio was chairman of the board of Ernesto C. Ouano (ECO) Development and Management Corp. and Vilma was a board director.

Police earlier said the businessman, who operated the family-owned Ouano Wharf, was killed by a hired gun and that a business dispute could be a motive.

Vilma had filed cases against Antonio including one to stop him from serving as chairman of the board. She also filed a case for injunction and damages against Antonio to prevent him from staying in the ECO compound at Ouano Wharf, barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Before he was ambushed, Antonio and his secretary attended a mediation hearing at the Hall of Justice against Jacinta Dionson, who filed the case last May 19, 2010. Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
