Motorcycles collide head-on in Makati; 1 dead, 2 injured

Two motorcycles collided head-on in Makati City Thursday morning, killing one of the drivers and injuring two other people.

Joeffrey T. Bareng, 46, a security guard, was killed when his SYM motorcycle figured in a collision with that of Gilbert A. Tolosa on McKinley Road in Barangay (village) Forbes Park at 5:45 a.m.

Bareng’s back rider, Aubrey E. Agbulos, 29, a call center agent, was injured in the accident and reported to be in critical condition. Tolosa, on the other hand, hurt his knee.

According to SPO1 Romel Salvador of the Makati Police Traffic Bureau, Bareng and Agbulos were on their way to Global City in Taguig when their vehicle collided with Tolosa’s. Due to the impact, the three were thrown onto the pavement.

They were rushed to Ospital ng Makati, Pembo, but Bareng was declared dead on arrival.

In the initial investigation conducted by probers, Tolosa’s motorcycle appeared to have crossed into the opposite lane. Salvador added that although the victims were all wearing helmets, the impact was too great.
