‘High-speed’ biker killed in crash

A motorcycle rider who was reportedly going on high speed was killed after crashing into a street lamp post in Makati City before dawn Sunday.

The police identified the fatality as Jeffrey C. Binlayo, 25, of 595 Dulong Tangke, Malinta, Valenzuela City.

Witnesses said Binlayo, who was coming from Barangay (village) Buting and heading toward Guadalupe, failed to slow down at a speed bump and lost control of his Honda motorcycle till it crashed into a post on JP Rizal Avenue Extension around 3 a.m. Sunday.

The police said the victim was doing about 80 to 90 kph when the accident happened. Binlayo was rushed to Ospital ng Makati in Barangay Pembo where he was declared dead on arrival.

Binlayo was wearing a helmet but still suffered severe head injuries, mainly in the mouth area, when thrown off the bike because of the strong impact, according to SPO4 Cesar Bueno of the Makati Police Traffic Bureau. Noli A. Ermitanio
