LRT to close early on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31
MANILA, Philippines—The Light Rail Transit Authority announced Thursday changes in its schedule in anticipation of the coming Christmas and New Year holidays.
Emerson L. Benitez, officer-in-charge, said that LRT will close earlier than the regular schedule on December 24 and December 31, 2012 as it expects a significant decline in ridership on such dates.
“Based on the LRT ridership for the last five years, the number of commuters goes down during the holiday season,” he said.
Moreover, this adjustment will also be taken so as to give station and security personnel the chance to go home early so that they can celebrate the holidays with their families.
Nonetheless, LRTA said it shall continue its security measures, imposing a “No Inspection, No Entry” policy, which includes wrapped gifts. Jamie Marie Elona
