/ 07:10 AM July 29, 2011

JAMES Bacon of the ALA Gym and Elmer Legaria made the required weight yesterday paving the way for today’s 12-round battle for the vacant Philippine superfeatherweight championship at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

The two will fight in the main event of a free to the public boxing promotion held one day before the much anticipated Pinoy Pride 7: Battle at Mactan between AJ “Bazooka” Banal and Canadian Tyson Cave.

Bacon (16W-2L, 11 KOs) weighed in at the division limit of 130lb while Legaria (12W-3L, 3 KOs) stepped in at 129 ¾lb. This will be Bacon’s second attempt to win the Philippine title. Last Oct. 23, 2010, he lost by split decision to Ronald Pontillas in Iloilo.
