Hope Christian School tops Shakey’s NCR leg
MULTIPLE time champion Hope Christian High School grabbed a berth in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League Tournament of Champions as they won the NCR championship following their 25-19, 19-25, 25-14, 29-27 victory over Colegio San Agustin at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum last Sunday.
The belles of HCS thus made their way to the grand tournament, which features the champion teams of the regional legs that were held all over the country, including Cebu’s very own Southwestern University.
CSA also gained a berth for the ToC slated Jan. 22-26 either at Rizal Coliseum or at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Justine Dorog unloaded 18 attacks and finished with two blocks and three service aces while Desiree Cheng, Bel Molde and Chester Ong backed her up with their power game to scuttle the CSA spikers’ bid. Dorog also went on to bag the MVP honors in the six-week long tournament.
Spicing up the ToC is the participation of Australia’s Victoria High School team, according to tournament director Johanz Buenvenida. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
