Utassco, Water Market win in Power 40

THE Utility Assurance Corp. (UTASSCO) drubbed Ang Tibay Mo, 83-66, for its first quarterfinal round win while Water Market crushed Allyn & Sons, 88-73, Tuesday night in the Power Forty Basketball Club (PFBC) 2012 basketball tournament at the new Inayawan covered court.

Utassco led, 21-13 in the first canto behind skipper Flor Yosores, Alex Mercado and Teody Ebrado then padded its lead into double figures the rest of the way.

Alex Mercado had 24 points to lead Utassco while Wewe Cabrera and Flor Yosores combined for 23 points. Jun Sumargo and Cecil Cabaluna paced Ang Tibay Mo with 25 and 18 markers.

In the other game, Water Market bucked a strong second quarter performance by Allyn & Sons with sizzling scoring in the second half to seal the 15-point win.

Caloy Lim and Michael Arias fired a game-high 24 and 21 points, respectively to lead Water Market while Cards Vernaiz and July Capala paced Allyn & Sons with 25 and 20 markers.
