Fed up with abuse, woman in Lapu finally cries rape

Two men accused of repeatedly raping a 20-year old high school student were arrested in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.

The suspects, Edgar Villacampa, 33, and Dioscoro Salmeron, denied the accusations against them.

The woman alleged that the two men started raping her last year. From June to October this year, the woman said she was raped at least 10 times. There was a time when the girl was allegedly raped four times in a month.

The woman said she decided to keep her silence after the two men threatened to kill her and her family if she will report the abuse to the police.

According to the police, the two men are the friends of Ricky Malingin who is currently detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail for allegedly raping the woman in 2008.

The woman said Malingin had been instructing the Villacampa and Salmeron to convince her not to pursue the case and not to show up in court hearings.

The woman said she was last raped by the two men Monday night.

She said she has grown tired of keeping the abuse to herself. The girl reported the crime to the Mactan police precinct.

The woman rode a passenger jeepney on her way home after reporting to the police.

The woman said the two men blocked the jeepney and forced her to disembark.

The two men told the driver they were relatives and that they were asked by the girl’s parents to pick her up.

The girl said she was brought to a grassy area near a subdivision where she was again raped.

The girl said the two men abandoned her after the incident.

The girl returned to the Mactan police station to seek help. Police conducted a follow-up operation after the abuse.

The two men were not arrested until last Wednesday when police chanced upon them in their respective homes in sitio Soong.
