MANILA, Philippines–A  man was killed after he was hit by Philippine National Railways train in Manila early Wednesday, police said.

Senior Police Officer 1 Ruben Mamuad of Manila Police District station 10 said Michael Antonio, 21, a security guard, was hit by a PNR train along Beata street in Pandacan, Manila around 8:20 a.m.

Initial investigation revealed Antio was on his way to buy some food when he crossed the railway, but stopped upon seeing a train coming from the southbound direction.

He failed to see, however, that another train was coming from the northbound lane where he was standing, and so he was hit.
