Man kills father

A 66-year-old man died after his son repeatedly hit him with a piece of wood in their house in barangay Cantaoan, Naga City, southern Cebu.

Hilario Vilchez died at the South General Hospital. Vilchez’s 35-year-old son, Ranele, was arrested after the incident.

Police said the attack happened after Hilario and his wife had an argument last Monday afternoon.

Hilario allegedly threatened to kill his wife, said PO2 Ronjie Nadorra, investigator of Naga police station.

When the couple stopped arguing, Ranele allegedly took a piece of wood and attacked his father.

Hilario suffered injuries in the head and body.

Police said it was possible that Ranele got fed up by Hilario’s constant threat to kill his mother.

Nadorra said there were reports that Ranela was mentally-ill but the suspect was coherent when police questioned him.

A charge of parricide will be filed against the suspect, who is detained at the Naga police station./CORRESPONDENT JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
