UPLB student stabbed dead in Biñan home
CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Philippines—A 19-year-old student of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) was found dead inside her home in Biñan City, Laguna, past noon on Monday.
Superintendent Leo Luna, the city’s police chief, identified the victim as Maria Victoria Reyes, a third year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture student.
Luna said by phone that Reyes was found dead with a single stab wound in her chest inside her family’s home in Barangay (village) San Vicente around 12:40 p.m.
He said Reyes was home alone when attacked.
Reyes’ father, who had just arrived home, found her daughter lying inside her bedroom. Reyes was pronounced dead upon arrival at the University of Perpetual Help hospital in Biñan City.
Police believed the victim knew the assailant or somebody simply got into the house. “They have a double lock from inside but we found no forced entry. Puwedeng kilala niya o nasalisihan siya (It was possible that she knew the assailant or somebody got inside the house without her knowing about it),” Luna said.

Classes for the second semester had just opened last week.
