SOME Christmas cheer is in store for Cebu City Hall employees.

The City Council passed a resolution asking Mayor Michael Rama to approve a P15,000 Christmas bonus for each regular ad casual employee on or before Dec. 15.

“Kanindot ana. Merry Christmas kaayo (This is good, it’s a Merry Christmas). This is good because all employees will be happy,” said Rama when sought for comment.

But the mayor said the Christmas bonus depends on the availability of funds.

Rama said if he were to decide he wanted bonuses to also be given to city officials as practiced in past years.

Rama directed City Administrator Jose Marie Poblete to work with the budget office in finding surplus funds to pay for the bonuses.

Rama said he was still waiting for instructions from Malacañang on how much can be released for a Christmas bonus.

Last year, Malacañang gave the green light to release a P10,000 bonus which Rama carried out in City Hall. Correspondent Edison delos Angeles
