Special task force to probe slay of Nueva Ecija radioman
MANILA, Philippines—A Special Investigation Task Group was activated to lead the investigation into the killing of a 52-year-old broadcaster in Nueva Ecija early Thursday , police said.
In a radio interview, Senior Superintendent Walter Castillejos, Nueva Ecija police director, said he has instructed Cabanatuan police chief, Superintendent Eli Depra, to conduct an intensive investigation into the killing of Julius Caesar Cauzo, an anchorman and reporter of local radio dzJJ.
He said members of Task Group Cauzo is set to meet later this day to discuss possible angles that may lead to the identification and arrest of the lone gunman.
As to the motive, Castillejos said they have yet to determine whether it was work-related, or not.
Earlier reports said Cauzo was driving his motorcycle when he was shot dead by the gunman on another motorcycle around 8:30 a.m.
The victim sustained three gunshot wounds.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR) said that if Cauzo’s murder would be proven work-related, he would be the fourth media worker killed this year and the 11th under the Aquino administration.
