Gov’t peace negotiator included in shortlist of bets for SC associate justice
MANILA, Philippines – The government’s chief peace negotiator Marvic Leonen is included in the shortlist of candidates for the Supreme Court associate justice post.
Leonen, together with former Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla, Court of Appeals Presiding Justice Andres Reyes and CA Associate Justice Rosemari Carandang each got 7 votes. Court of Appeals Justices Jose Reyes and Noel Tijam both got six votes while La Salle Law Dean Jose Manuel Diokno got 5 votes.
Their names will be submitted to President Benigno Aquino III.
They will fill the post vacated by Maria Lourdes Sereno who was appointed Chief Justice last August.
