Brgy councilor goes wild in police station
A barangay councilor in Alcoy town, southern Cebu was arrested after he allegedly went wild inside a police station while seeking the release of his constituents apprehended for illegal gambling.
Brian Romanos, 44, barangay councilor of Daanglungsod, is facing charges for direct assault, drunkenness and obstruction of justice, said police.
The councilor will also be facing an administrative case, said police.
Romanos was reportedly drunk when he went to the town’s police station about 4 p.m. last Friday and demanded that Samuel Seciban, 74; Daphne delos Santos , 19; Lorna Requizo, 27; Airene Pelayo, 36; and Pilar Jimenez, 45, be released from detention.
Police said the arrested persons were caught playing bingo in the barangay around 3 p.m. last Friday.
PO2 Marivel Pardo, desk officer of Alcoy police, Romanos started shouting inside the police precinct when his demand was turned down.
