Men on motorbikes kill 3 in Quezon City

Three men were shot dead in separate incidents in Quezon City by still unidentified men riding in tandem on motorcycles in just six hours on Monday night.

Homicide section head Inspector Elmer Monsalve said the deaths may not be related as the suspects appear to be different in each case. All the suspects, however, used .45-cal. pistols to kill their victims.

The first victim, Ronaldo Perez, 36, was shot around 5:15 p.m. on Masaya Street, Barangay (village) Old Capitol Hills. Witnesses recalled seeing Perez on his motorcycle when two gunmen on a motorcycle passed by him, firing shots as they sped by. The suspects fled in the direction of Commonwealth Avenue, leaving Perez to die on the spot from several gunshot wounds.

At 10:10 p.m., Generoso Cobarrubias, 60, was gunned down on Aurora Boulevard near V. Mapa Street in Barangay Doña Imelda as he was walking home with his family. He died on his way to the UERM Hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The youngest fatality, 18-year-old David Jan Prado, was gunned down by a man on a motorcycle right in front of his house on Maya Street, Barangay Commonwealth at 11:05 p.m. after playing basketball. The victim died immediately while the assailant sped off.—Julie M. Aurelio
