Casiño belittles complaint vs Bayan Muna
MANILA, Philippines—Bayan Muna partylist Representative Teddy Casiño said Tuesday that the complaint filed against their group before the Commission on Elections in a bid to have them disqualified in the upcoming elections, will, once again, be dismissed.
“Wala nang bago dyan (There’s nothing new there),” Casiño said in an interview with Erwin Aguilon of “Dyaryo sa Radyo” over Radyo Inquirer 990AM to the complaint filed by the People’s Advocacy for Collaboration and Empowerment (Peace), alleging that Bayan Muna has been funding communist rebel group New People’s Army.
He said this issue was first raised in 2001, but were constantly dismissed due to “lack of evidence and basis.”
Casiño said this move was a form of harassment and is part of efforts to kick them out of Congress.
“Kapag ikaw ay progresibo . . . nagdadala ng mga issue ng mga kababayan natiing mahihirap, ikaw ay automatically rebelde na. ‘Yon ang nakakatakot dya’n sa ganyang argumento (If you are progressive…raising issues of the poor, you’re automatically branded as a rebel. That’s what’s scary about this argument),” the lawmaker said.
