MANILA, Philippines—A body of a man whose head was wrapped in a rice sack was found along Elcano Street, Binondo, Manila, early Sunday morning.
The body of the unidentified victim estimated by the police to be about 20 to 25 years old was discovered by garbage collectors while they were doing a daily cleanup in the area. The victim was wearing black short pants when barangay (village) safety officers recovered his body near a trash dump.
Initial examination revealed that the man was likely beaten up with a hard object as police discovered lacerated wounds on his head and face.
Senior Police Officer 2 Glenzor A. Vallejo interviewed several individuals near the area where the dead man was found but none of them was able to provide details on how the killing happened or how the body was dumped.
The victim’s body was taken to a nearby funeral parlor for autopsy as the police continue to investigate and identify the motive of the killing.
