No problems in securing St. Peter’s Church

/ 01:57 PM July 25, 2011

MANILA, Philippines – There have been no problems so far in securing St. Peter’s Church where militant groups have started converging, National Capital Region Police Office Director Alan Purisima said on Monday afternoon.

In an interview with reporters, Purisima said that their men have so far been able to secure the road leading to the Batasan Complex without a hitch.

He said that he received word that the rallyists were allowed to march only up to St. Peter’s Church, still a distance from the Batasan where President Benigno Aquino III will deliver his second State of the Nation Adress at 4 p.m.

Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) attended the hearing on their petition to allow them to conduct their protests closer to the Batasan Complex and to restrain Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista from modifying the venues of rallies.
