Mabinay wins Buglasan cook fest

THE chicken pork lemon grass recipe of Mabinay town in Negros Oriental was declared first prize winner in the seventh “Buglasan Lutong Garbo” grand cook fest on Oct. 13 at the Sidlakan Negros Village in Dumaguete City.

First placer chef Tony Lacorte Ehera presented his menu with delectable and creative way of cooking.

Ehera received P10,000 cash and a trophy from Lutong Garbo committee of the Buglasan Festival directorate led by Chair Sylvia Uy.

The Hardinero de Fruta of Marites Ebasan from Amlan town placed second with a cash prize of P7,000 and a trophy. Ebasan was also the third placer in the 2011 cooking competition.

Laing con Carne (A la Negros) of Carlito Calda from Sibulan town got the third place and received P5,000 with a trophy.

Eight non-winners received P2,500 each as consolation prize.

Local culinary expers Pepita Villacora, Katherine Fontelo and Wilfreda Villalon composed the board of judges.
