Village chief shot dead in Surigao del Sur
TAGUM CITY, Philippines—A village official of Barobo town Surigao del Sur was shot dead before noon Wednesday, the police reported Thursday.
Reneboy Lacerna, chief of Barangay Sua, was killed at the town’s wharf in Poblacion village around 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to Superintendent Martin Gamba, spokesperson for Caraga regional police.
Lacerna was about board his pumpboat when one of two assailants approached him and shot him with a handgun, Gamba said.
The police official said an investigation into the killing was ongoing.
