Australian businessman in Manila found dead in his condo unit
MANILA, Philippines—An Australian businessman, who was said to be suffering from brain tumor, was found dead inside his condominium unit in Manila before dawn Thursday after allegedly shooting himself in the head, police said.
Senior Inspector Joey de Ocampo, Manila Police District-homicide division chief, said victim Robert Archer, 47, chief executive officer of Advance Sharp Technologies (Australia) was found dead inside his home at Unit 1805, Baywatch Tower Condominium along M.H Del Pilar Street in Malate, Manila around 3:50 a.m.
Archer’s wife, Annabel, left their house, and just found his husband’s lifeless body with a lone gunshot wound at the right side of his head, de Ocampo said.
Annabel also told investigators that they went to the country for medical purposes, adding that the victim had tried to commit suicide several times already because of his poor health condition.
The gun was recovered from the crime scene, as well as a “suicide note” the victim wrote for his wife and relatives in Australia.
Robert’s body now lies at St. Yvan Funeral Parlor for autopsy while further investigation is being conducted for possible foul play.
