Both del Mars ready to run against Anabelle Rama

MOST allies of  the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) want formmer Rep. Raul del Mar  to run  for his old post in the north district.

Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young said he prefers the elder Del Mar because of his experience in public service.

But father and daugther want to keep everyone guessing until the last day.

Both of them have blank Certificates of Candidacy  to fill up.

“They will find out who on the day that we file our COC,” said Rep. Rachel del Mar.

She said yesterday that she and her father have agreed who between them would  seek  election next year.

“Our decision is based on six months of consultation and whoever has more time to spend in the district,” she said.

Some quarters say the uncertainty is  hedged on whether their potential rival, Anabelle Rama, cousin of Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, who would use her showbiz celebrity clout in a campaign,   would actually file her bid.

Cebu City Rep. Tomas Osmeña,  BO-PK chief, said he wanted  an in house survey among BO-PK allies to help the Del Mars decide who should run.

But Raul said a survey was  no longer necessary.

A BO-PK insider said  Raul’s COC was   already  filled up in preparation for the  COC deadline from Oct. 1 to 5. Cutie also received her certificate of nomination from the Liberal Party national headquarters on Sept. 18.

“I asked for a separate one for my father. I also reminded them again (on the matter) this morning so I hope that we can pick it up (certificate of nomination) already,” she said.
