2 dead, 1 injured in Navotas fire

Two people died while one was injured in a fire that engulfed two shanties and a car shop in Navotas City Saturday morning.

FO1 Julius Vazquez said that the fire which began at 1:27 a.m. broke out in a shanty on Raja Kalantiao Street in Barangay Daang Hari.

The blaze which reached the second alarm spread to an adjacent shanty and a car shop, causing an estimated P3 million in damage to property, he added.

According to Vazquez, the burnt bodies of Boy Sison and Richard Gonzales were found by firemen in one of the shanties.

He said that the two obviously suffocated after they failed to get out of the burning house.

Another resident identified as Lorenzo Fernandez had to be rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Manila after he jumped out of his house and fell on the pavement.

The fire was put out at 2:25 a.m. Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire. Kristine Felisse Mangunay
