/ 01:19 AM September 20, 2012

The  Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) marks the 114th birth anniversary of its founder by opening the Josefa Llanes Escoda Hall at its national headquarters on Padre Faura, Manila.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Remembering Our Great Founder.” Escoda was a suffragist, an advocate for women’s rights and one of the heroines of World War II.

The GSP observes Josefa Llanes Escoda Day every Sept. 20 by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 1214.
