Aquino appoints Miguel Magpale to PB
AFTER more than two months delay, Miguel Antonio Magpale recevied his official appointment as Provincial Board (PB) member of Cebu’s 5th district.
He showed Cebu Daily News a copy of his appointment papers from Malacañang yesterday.
The son of Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale will take his oath of office on September 26 before his uncle Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III.
Miguel, who is a Danao city councilor, told CDN that he will be vacating his city post.
He also announced this yesterday during the Danaco city council’s regular session.
The appointment was signed by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III on Aug. 16, 2012 or before the death of DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo.

Article continues after this advertisementMiguel said he will start office duties immediately after he takes his oath and look at the programs that Vice Governor Magpale, who used to occupy the seat, started for the 5th district.
Miguel was named by his party, the Barug alang sa kauswagan of democrasya (Bakud) to fill the vacanc left by his mother when she had to concurrently hold the post of vice governor when the incumbent Greg Sanchez Jr. died of cancer in May last year.
Agnest Mapale was the top vote-getter and no. 1 Provincial Board Member at the time.
Before entering politics, Miguel was the vice president for administrative services of the North Eastern Cebu Colleges, which is owned by the Magpale family.
He finished Communication Arts and Marketing Management at De La Salle University.
He took up a Master’s Degree in Education Management at Cebu Doctors University.
He is married to businesswoman Christine Lim. They have a 1-year-old son.
Miguel is the youngest son of Vice Governor Magpale.
