Bag containing foot, organs found on Edsa
A plastic bag containing parts of a human body was found in the middle of the northbound lane of Edsa in Guadalupe, Makati City, Sunday morning, causing a traffic jam which lasted for about an hour.
Superintendent Jaime Santos, acting Makati police chief, said the bag which contained a foot and internal organs was initially mistaken for trash by several motorists as they approached Guadalupe Bridge. “They simply ignored it and because it was right in the middle of the road, it was run over several times,” he added.
After the bag was dragged for several meters by a taxi cab at 8 a.m., a curious street sweeper of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority tried to find out what it contained.
According to Santos, they were checking if closed-circuit television cameras installed on Edsa were able to capture on video the actual dumping of the bag.
“Our investigators were also coordinating with other police precincts in Metro Manila to check for similar incidents,” he added.
Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives cordoned off the portion where the body parts were found and scoured the area for clues, causing traffic to build up on the northbound lane from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
