Bostolits captures UBCA hoop title

GRACE Bostolits overwhelmed Mayupay-ICC Pharmacy, 92-84, last Sunday to rule the Upper Bayanihan Catholic Association (UBCA) Camp-2012 basketball tournament at the barangay Quiot Sports Complex.

Mayupay jumped to a, 29-22 lead in the first quarter and maintained its seven-point edge at the half.

However, Bostolits responded with a, 31-14 run in the third period and effectively stalled repeated rallies by Mayupay for the 8-point win.

Michael Malalay and Roger Quitoy led Grace Bostolits with 19 and 18 points, respectively, while Barok Lasque and Nhunon Cagakit paced Mayupay with 17 and 16 markers.

In the battle for third, Romel Garcia and Danrey Baclay fired 19 points apiece to lift Yati-San Isidro to a, 101-85 victory over Quiot-San Roque. Abs Auxtero paced Quiot with 22 points.

Michael Malalay bagged the coveted MVP award and is joined in the Mythical 5 by Roger Quitoy, Toly Petiluna, Tiks Hyperwage and Barok Lasque. Pete Patrimonio is Best Defensive Player while Jef Francisco baged the Best Center honors.

Earlier, in the special 15-Under game, Quiot-Bostolits nipped Bulacao, 65-59 with John Lacano scoring 14 points. Ariel Gonzales paced Bulacao with l6 markers.
