Canteen owner killed after confirming identity

An elderly canteen owner was shot dead by a man who even confirmed if the former was indeed the target before he killed him on Wednesday night in Quezon City.

Loreto Lorenzo, 63, was declared dead on arrival at Fairview General Hospital.

Case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Jaime Jimena said the victim’s daughter, Arlene, who was wounded when she was hit by a stray bullet, told investigators that she and her father were at work in their canteen on Farmers Road, Barangay Payatas B, when a man on a red motorcycle stopped in front of the establishment.

He then asked the victim, “Who is Lorenzo?” When the victim replied that he was Lorenzo, the man shot him several times. Julie M. Aurelio
