LP still looking for bets for its senatorial ticket
MANILA, Philippines—The ruling Liberal Party (LP) have yet to fill seven vacancies for its senatorial ticket for the 2013 midterm election.
In an interview with anchors Susan K, Den Macaranas and Captain Dylan Halili of “Good Morning Inquirer” on Radio Inquirer 990AM, House deputy speaker and LP spokesman Lorenzo “Erin” Tanada III said that none has been added to the LP lineup that was announced recently by President Benigno Aquino III.
Among the candidates mentioned by Aquino were Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Grace Poe-Llamanzares, former Senator Ramon “Jun” Magsaysay Jr., former Akbayan Representative Risa Hontiveros, Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, and Aurora Representative Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara.
Llamanzares has yet to decide whether she will run for senator. More than seven people have applied to join the LP ticket.
Other names being mentioned, Tanada said, were Budget Secretary Butch Abad, Senator Chiz Escudero, and Senator Loren Legarda but the three have yet to give their confirmation.
LP’s official final list, Tanada said, will be released on the last week of September.
