Mandaue council told to pass truck ban law
THE chief of Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue is urging the City Council to pass an ordinance banning trucks from major city streets.
Edwin Ermac, head of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team) told reporters yesterday that their office have been extending the truck ban “dry run” for five times already.
The last day for the latest “dry run” will be on September 20, 2012. Each “dry run” lasts for two months.
“We have been extending it while waiting for the enactment of the ordinance,” Ermac said.
He called on city councilor Elstone Dabon, chairman for Committee Transportation and Communication to finally act on the proposed ordinance.
With the economy of Mandaue booming, regulating trucks plying its streets is needed to help ease traffic congestion, Ermac said.
