MANILA, Philippines – Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago will seek on Monday an inquiry into what she called the “unique and anomalous” authority given to Interior Undersecretary Rico Puno as overseer of police matters during the time of the late Secretary Jesse Robredo.

In a news conference, Santiago said the inquiry would also look into the circumstances as regards the alleged break-in into Robredo’s offices following his death last month.

The senator said she also would want to know what Puno has done to stop the illegal numbers’ game “jueteng” during his watch as the one in charge of police matters at the interior department.
