3 fires break out in Metro Cebu within 24 hours
CEBU CITY–Fire hit a two-story building here early Tuesday afternoon, bringing to three the number of fires in the Metro Cebu area within a 24-hour period, the authorities said.
Firefighters were still battling the blaze, which started at around 1:20 p.m., at the building on the corner of MJ Cuenco Avenue and Urdaneta Street.
The building’s occupant, Modern Metal Marketing, is reportedly engaged in the selling tires and metal products.
The first fire, which occurred in Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, razed over 100 houses and left around 200 families homeless.
The second, at 6:37 a.m. Tuesday, damaged only a portion of a house in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
