Junk shop warning
Police yesterday warned junk shop owners to avoid buying LPG tanks filled with gas to prevent a repeat of the Thursday’s LPG tank explosion in barangay Calamba, Cebu City which killed 10 persons.
A policeman will conduct random inspections of junk shops in the city to see that there not buying harmful scrap materialsm said Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, City Intelligence Branch chief.
Last Thursday, Carlito Tampon tried to destroy the regulator of a LPG tank after a junk shop owner refused to buy the tank with gas.

Robber shot
Article continues after this advertisementA man arrested on suspicion of robbing a Ceres Bus was shot and wounded after he tried to grab the gun of his police escorts yesterday in barangay Ilihan, Tabogon town.
Article continues after this advertisementBrian Garcia, 22, of barangay Libjo was shot in the right shoulder and abdomen.
Garcia was arrested in a hot pursuit operation folllowing the bus heist on Saturday afternoon. A .38 caliber revolver was recovered from him.
On the way to the station, police said Garcia who had handcuffs on tried to grab the M-16 rifle of one of his escorts, PO3 Alman Alcabal. A scuffle followed.
The other escort, Insp. Lamberto Hibaya, then pulled out his gun, and shot Garcia to neutralize him.
Police said Garcia was one of four men who robbed a Ceres Bus and fled with P7,000 cash./Correspondent Gabriel Bonjoc
