Alaminos vows to live up to Robredo ‘seal’

PANGASINAN—The city of Alaminos in Pangasinan has expressed its gratitude to the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo for awarding the city the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) for excellence in good governance.

Mayor Hernani Braganza, in a press statement, promised to maintain its good performance in internal housekeeping in planning, sound fiscal management, transparency, accountability and performance management.

“Rest assured we will take good care of our clean image and the Seal of Good Governance the late Secretary had given us,” he said. “We are one in his principle to walk the straight path.”

He said Alaminians will never forget Robredo.

The late secretary rewarded Alaminos City with P3 million for passing the set of criteria of the Seal of Good Governance.

He lauded the city for passing the stringent certification of the Commission on Audit that the locality had no adverse report on financial transactions, and that to adhere to the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) full disclosure policy, including the posting of financial transactions on the city’sofficial website to show how funds were being spent, he noted.

The P3-million reward is part of the government’s 2011 performance challenge fund to be financed from the 20 percent component of the local government unit’s internal revenue allotment.

“We are overwhelmed Alaminos made it through the National Table Assessment and Validation, and subsequently stamped with SGH Seal,” Braganza said.

“We are very elated for such prestigious award.”

“The award is a testament to our hard work, dedication and commitment in realizing our unique and creative programs and projects as well as our adherence to the set of guidelines laid out by DILG which focuses on good governance,” he noted.
