Chief Justice Sereno releases her SALN: P18 million
Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno Thursday night released her statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) for 2011, waiving conditions set by Supreme Court resolutions.
The SALN filed last April 26 showed Sereno’s net worth amounted to P17,985,375.51.
Her properties amounted to P10,481,500 and these included three house and lots in Filinvest East (with a current market value of P6 million), Cavite (P1.375 million) and Davao (P1.8 million) as well as memorial lots in Cavite (P60,000) and a lot in Filinvest East (P2.1 million).
Sereno also listed three vehicles—a 2005 Toyota Altis, a 1997 Toyota Corolla and a second-hand 1993 Mitsubishi Lancer. Her cash in the bank amounted to P1,185,602.60 and receivables P3,537,130.25.
Total assets declared by Sereno amounted to P19,227,578.85 as against her liabilities of P1,242,203.34.
Article continues after this advertisementHer liabilities included credit card billings (P125,511.10), payables (P116,692.24) and a P1-million loan from the Bank of the Philippine Islands.

In her statement, Sereno said her assets “include the savings left from the legal fees paid by the government to her in connection with the cases involving Naia Terminal 3, net of the amounts paid for value-added tax, income tax, operating expenses and personal consumption.”
Sereno was paid the fees for her services rendered from Oct.23, 2003, to July 31, 2008, or four years and nine months.
