Motorcycle rider dies after being run over by truck in Pasay

MANILA, Philippines—A motorcycle rider died on the spot after being run over by a truck in Pasay City Monday morning, a city traffic official said.

The still unidentified motorcycle driver, estimated to be around 40 to 45 years old, was run over by an Isuzu Cargo truck (XNR 776) along EDSA Extension U-turn slot around 10:30 a.m., Senior Police Officer 1 Rick Murillo of Pasay City Traffic Bureau said.

Murillo quoted witnesses as saying that the truck, driven by Reynaldo Nicolas, 33, swerved to the right, causing it to hit the victim’s Honda motorcycle with license plate 8922 PU.

“The driver was thrown out of his vehicle and was run over in the head by the truck,” he said.

He said Nicolas will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting to damage to properties and homicide.

The victim’s body is now with the Rizal Memorial homes, Murillo said.
