Ecuador calls regional meet over Assange case—Brazil

BRASILIA—Ecuador has called for a ministerial session of the South American regional bloc UNASUR in Guayaquil Sunday after its move to grant asylum to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, Brazil said Thursday.

A foreign ministry source said Brazil has been asked to attend the meeting of UNASUR foreign ministers. The Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) groups Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname and Uruguay.
