Marikina lifts all alerts as water level in river goes down

MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Marikina City has lifted all alerts after the water level of the Marinika River went down to 14.9 meters Friday.

In its Twitter account @MarikinaLGU, the city said that it was now time for its citizens and officials to get back on their feet and pick up the pieces after the intense rains and massive floods displaced thousands.

Even with rubber boats at their disposal, rescuers struggled to reach residents from areas like Provident Village earlier this week due to strong currents.

Meanwhile, classes in both public and private schools remain cancelled.
