Deal inked to monitor water extraction

THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) and the Cebu City government entered into a partnership agreement to properly monitor ground water extraction in the city.

 
MCWD general manager Armando Paredes and Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama signed the memorandum of agreement on July 11 at the Cebu City Hall. The ceremony was witnessed by MCWD assistant general manager for Operations Ernie Delco.

 
Under the agreement, both parties will work together to come up with the baseline date to measure water extraction and safeguard water sustainability.

Cebu City is the third local government unit within MCWD’s franchise area that entered into such an agreement after Mandaue City and Lapu-lapu City
MCWD is also working on entering into the same agreement with Talisay City.
