Navotas City Mayor urges government employees to help in relief operations

MANILA, Philippines—Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco called on employees of the Navotas City Hall to resume work and help in relief operations for flood victims, a Radyo Inquirer 990 AM report said Wednesday.

Tiangco made the appeal after he declared a suspension of work at the Navotas City Hall for Wednesday.

In a report by Radyo Inquirer’s Chona Yu, data from Jayne Banayad of the Navotas City Public Information Office (PIO) revealed that 174 families remained in evacuation centers in Navotas City.

There were no reported casualties in the area but there were six reported cases of people affected with asthma.

The report said the city health officers had started distributing medicine to treat leptospirosis (a skin disease caused by rat’s urine mixed in floodwaters) and that relief operations were still being conducted.
