Milo twin tournament starts
LOCAL GRASSROOTS basketball will be on display today as 31 teams converge for the kickoff playdate of the Milo-backed BEST SBP/Passerelle Twin Tournament 2012 and the CYBL D-League at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.
Eleven games will be played tomorrow as the league wastes no time in getting the action going with SHS-AdC aiming to capture the titles in the Passerelle and Small Basketeers of the Philippines (SBP)divisions again.
The Magis Eagles are seeking a sixth straight title in the Passerelle division, while their younger counterparts are going for a three-peat in the SBP class.
However, the race for the titles, especially in the Passerelle class, is expected to be tough with the ascension of the grassroots program of the University of the Visayas and the united front that is being put up by the University of San Carlos.
Cebu Eastern College will also be in the mix, buoyed by its winning the Passerelle division championship of the pre-season CYBL Vismin Goodwill Games last May. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
