SM Supermalls’ Trash to Cash Recycling Market Day earned the support of Consolacion municipal government when the program was launched on July 6 at the Event Centre of SM City Consolacion.

Vice Mayor Aurelio Damole, in his speech, thanked SM Consolacion for spearheading an environmental project like the Trash to Cash.

He hoped that other businesses will undertake the same program to help clean the environment through waste segregation.

SM’s Trash to Cash Recycling Market is a part of an environmental campaign under the SM Cares program. It was launched to raise awareness in the community on the environmental efforts of the mall. It is held simultaneously in over 40 SM Malls parking lots from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every first Friday and Saturday of the month.

The program allows families to come in with trash like scrap paper and cardboard, empty ink toner cartridges, plastic bottles and scraps, used lead batteries from cars, aluminum, tin cans, and other items, in exchange for cash.
