Rob-slay suspect killed after grabbing cop’s gun
Yet another crime suspect was killed in Manila after he reportedly tried to grab the gun of his police escort.
A police report identified the dead man as Rocky Bangayan, 24, one of the suspects in the robbery-killing of 27-year-old Chinese businesswoman Lirong Yang in Binondo, Manila.
Yang, a native of Fujian, China, was stabbed dead on Monday night after she boarded a pedicab whose driver turned out to be a holdup man.
The driver and his cohort then fled with her belongings. Bangayan was later arrested in his house by the police after he was identified through the footage taken by a closed circuit television camera installed in one of the buildings near the area where Yang was killed.
Chief Inspector Joselito de Ocampo, head of the Manila Police District homicide section, said in a report that on Wednesday morning, Bangayan and two policemen, Police Officers 3 Jefferson Aristorenas and Ronald Baguio, were in a police car on their way to revisit the crime scene when the suspect grabbed Baguio’s gun.
“Sensing danger, Aristorenas then fired at Bangayan, hitting him on the chest,” De Ocampo added in his report.
