Superal falls short in South Carolina

/ 09:10 AM July 30, 2012

FILIPINA ACE golfer Princess Superal lost to Breanna Elliott of Australia, 3-2, in the final of the Women’s Trans National Golf Championship at the Members Club at Woodcreek in Columbia, South Carolina last Saturday.

Superal, coming off a pair of scrambling wins in the quarters and the semis, went 2-up early with two pars and a birdie but yielded the lead just as quickly as Elliott hit two birdies in the next four holes.

The top ICTSI-backed bet bogeyed Nos. 13, 16 and 17 as she failed to flash the putting form she showed in toppling Rinko Mitsunaga and Rika Park in the previous matches and fell by three holes after the morning duel.

The break hardly revived her form as she bogeyed No. 2 after missing the green then fell by as many as six holes after Elliott birdied Nos. 3 and 4.

The Southern Ladies champion fought back with back-to-back birdies from No. 8 and moved within two at No. 14, only to sputter with a double-bogey mishap on the par-3 No. 15, enabling the Aussie bet to coast to the win.
