Pilot, student survive plane crash

ZAMBALES—A pilot and his student were hurt on Friday when their Cessna training plane crashed into the waters off a beach resort in Barangay Lipay-Dingin-Panibuatan in Iba town here, according to reports reaching the office of Iba Mayor Ad Hebert Deloso.

The reports said Capt. John Paul Merrera and his student, Divyan Mahin, suffered injuries and were taken to Sta. Cecilia Medical Center in Iba.

Witnesses said they heard the plane make unusual sounds as it descended toward the sea, 20 meters from the beach resort. Residents and rescue workers pulled out Merrera and Mahin and took them to the hospital. Cesar Villa, Inquirer Central Luzon
