Valenzuela eyes P87-M project

In a bid to reach the ideal student-to-classroom ratio, the Valenzuela City government has drawn up plans for an estimated P87-million school expansion project. The project is the second this year for the city which, according to Department of Education (DepEd) officials, has a student-to-classroom ratio of 48:1 for elementary schools and 54:1 for secondary schools. The figures are based on the initial enrollment data for this year and will be finalized after the July 31 cut-off period. Earlier, the DepEd pegged the ideal student-to-classroom ratio at 45:1 for elementary schools and 50:1 for secondary schools. Benjamin Gamaro of the Engineering Office’s Planning and Project Management said that the project was completed earlier this month with six public schools benefiting from the program. For the second program, the beneficiaries include Dalandanan National High School, Lawang Bato National High School and Lawang Bato Elementary School. Kristine Felisse Mangunay
